440 Main/10 Locust is a 6 story, mixed-use building at the corner of Main & Locust on the parcel of the Union Baptist Church, which burned down on Valentines Day 2011.
The new structure will contain 115 independent living units, 2 retail spaces and a community room on the 1st floor, a 150-seat glass enclosed church on the 6th floor. It is an L shaped building with the residential portion entrance on Locust.
The 80 parking spaces will be provided using a mechanical system by the Utron slide system, accessed by a 30’ entrance along Locust. The parking area will be fully automated with interior space for a 6-car queue and a kiosk.
The church will be accessed by red doors off of Main to a vestibule and a 9’x11’ elevator that can hold 25 people. It will be a brick building designed to fit into the context of the neighborhood and have brick articulation of painted triangles mural sections. The architect is Anderson-Alexander. Development by Kings Capital Construction and St. Katherine’s Group. Civil engineering by DTS Provident.
